Change the World

I understand that I may not change the world, but changing the life of even one person can have a vast effect. To quote one of my strongest role models, “We must be the change we wish to see in the world.” – Mahatma Gandhi. This is a proverb that I try to live by because we have to be involved in order to make the world a better place.

I have always had a strong desire to give back and help those in need because I understand that God has truly blessed my life, and I desire to share that with others. I have gone on several missions trips that have literally changed who I am and how I live my life. They have helped me to gain a strong appreciation and gratitude for the blessings I have received by the grace of God. I have also volunteered for various projects that have had a strong impact on my life such as volunteering for the Hurricane Katrina victims, and volunteering for food drives. Volunteering for the Hurricane Katrina victims was an enriching experience, as I got to know many of the families who had lost everything, yet were still able to smile and be joyful for the little they had left. I strongly believe that even the smallest acts of kindness can change the world for the better.

I believe that doing work for the benefit of others in turn benefits the life of the volunteer in ways they cannot comprehend. God is good and bestows on us so many blessings; therefore, we should bless others in need!
