Parents Online Safety Workshop

This is a presentation that I think ALL parents and grandparents should see.  We all know something of the dangers the internet poses to children (and adults) with regards to pornography.  We all (I hope) are somewhat worried about what to do.  Some of you may have already tackled this issue.  Others may feel at the mercy of technology and feel like your hands are tied.  This presentation, while it is somewhat lengthy (approx 30 minutes), will help you to understand the issues and give you some practical things you can do to protect your family.    Some recent statistics from internet-filter-review.com:

Children Internet Pornography Statistics Average age of first Internet exposure to pornography 11 years old

Largest consumer of Internet pornography 35 – 49 age group 15-17 year olds having multiple hard-core exposures 80%

8-16 year olds having viewed porn online 90% (most while doing homework)

7-17 year olds who would freely give out home address 29%

7-17 year olds who would freely give out email address 14%

Children’s character names linked to thousands of porn links 26 (Including Pokemon and Action Man)

This issue is not going to go away, at least anytime soon, so I encourage you to view the presentation and take action.   Also, please forward this to other parents who you think may need it.     The SafeFamiles.org website contains all of the information in the presentation and more.  Visit the website at www.safefamilies.org
