Border
Research #3, Poitpet 2004
Three border studies in a period of four years were conducted to understand the border situation. The first study, undertaken by 7 agencies end year 2001, opens its report by saying: “The first thing that strikes when you cross the border between Cambodia and Thailand in Poipet is the chaotic nature of the place. Hundreds of people are crossing from Cambodia into Thailand or vice versa at every moment of the day. Some are walking, some sit comfortably on a cart pulled by a day labourer trying to make a living. Many other carts cross the border carrying goods”
