The book of Nehemiah is a fantastic look at wholistic transformation of a community. The primary architect of this transformation was Nehemiah, who served as the cupbearer to Artaxerxes I, king of Persia, in the 5th century B.C. While many have used Nehemiah’s story of the building of the walls at Jerusalem as an example of community development in action, this article attempts to look at the whole book through the lens of wholistic development and transformation.
