South Carolina joins list of statewide OIAM events

Sandy Run Lutheran Church, Swansea, SC
When we followed the instructions for compiling the numbers  from the individual projects, I got a total participation of 94 people in 11 projects.  With an average attendance of 45 (verified by the church council treasurer), that is 209% participation.  In all actuality, several people were counted multiple times as they participated in multiple projects.  62 individuals participated in at least one of our 11 projects, for a participation rate of 138%.  Four people who had committed to projects had to drop out at the last minute due to health issues, or we would have had close to 150%.  We are SO proud of our little church!  The Spirit breathed the living breath of Operation InAsMuch into our congregation, and our members could not help but respond!  We partnered with the Sandy Run Fire Department, the Sandy Run Community Club, Sandy Run School, Calhoun Convalescent Home, and even the South Carolina Employment Security Commission to bring services to 394 members of our community.  Congregation members from <1-year-old to 94-years-old served community members from <1-year-old to 90 years old.  One of our young members who is away at college returned to Sandy Run for the weekend to participate; one of our member’s granddaughter who has not been to church in over 2 years came to participate; and one couple who was formerly very active in the congregation, but has not attended for several years, not only participated, but served on the planning team and has started to attend worship services again.  We have been blessed!
