In I Corinthains 13, we hear that “if we speak in the tongue of mortals and angels, and have not love, I am only a resounding gong.” I’ve been thinking about this in relation to our churches and wondering if the people who are in need in our community are only hearing resounding gongs coming from our churches. Are we loving or are we just talking? Unfortunately, I think it’s the latter. We talk about changing the world, but we don’t love our neighbors enough to actually go and change the world. We have not the love of Christ, but the love of self.
