Some of the common myths related to Christian donors are actually quite true, while others are less factual. This very interesting research by Grey Matter on US Christian donors shows that about the only common myth about Christian donors that prove to be true is that Christians give more and give more generously than others. Apart from being more generous, in most things Christians and non-Christians show relatively few differences in donor behavior and perceptions. One of the most critical findings in this research is that Christians often show little or no preference for supporting Christian organizations beyond their local church. This trend confirms other studies that Christians do not always give to what can be called Kingdom causes. More work is needed to encourage Christians to have a Kingdom focus in their giving.
