Steve Holmes lecturer in theology at St Mary’s College, St Andrews, Scotland wrote this very interesting blog on the ethics of child sponsorship. He argues that there is ’something deeply Christian about child sponsorship as a mode of delivering aid and development. It is about genuine relationship, about love; it as close as I can get to face to face care.’ Giving and generosity is therefore relational.
