In May 2011, the Global Prayer Digest declared as its headline – The World is Coming to Texas!
On February 7th, 2012, 30 mission mobilizer in the Dallas-Ft Worth Metroplex gathered together for the purpose of launching the DFW Diaspora Alliance. The DFW Diaspora Alliance is a strategic response to our changing world in DFW as the world come to Texas.
DFW is a growing and unique global city due to a few key factors:
First, DFW is known for the strength of our local churches with a number of the largest mega-churches in the U.S. providing capacity
Second, DFW is known for the number and strength of our Christian academic institutions providing training
Third. DFW is known as the home of many sending agencies providing missional expertise.
But today DFW is becoming known for a growing population of international peoples entering our city making DFW an increasingly strategic global city.
- more than 44% of DFW is New Americans
– nearly 300 people groups have been identified in DFW
– of those peoples of 17 nations of the 10/40 Window now call DFW home
– DFW is the 2nd largest destination for refugees entering the U.S.
