Who is on your throne? A call for revival.

An age old problem… is God in charge or man. Most of us who are professing Jesus as Messiah will say ‘God, of course, who else?’ Yet many have put other god’s on the throne, often respected things, noble things, good things, exemplementary things like theology, democracy, world order, Christian leaders, unity in diversity, Bible translation, church planting, the great commission, sharing the gospel, helping the poor and disenfranchised, feeding the hungry, urban ministries, academic research, and the list goes on, including world evangelization. All of these play a part, but they are not an end in itself, they are not to be on the throne.  The same is true for organizations, denominations, religious institutions, initiatives, networks, alliances, partnerships, and even movements. If they are on the throne, then they are a top down imposition on the people of God. They are only pieces of one large puzzle or threads that together have the potential to form God’s integrately woven beautiful and majestic tapestry. They are to serve as a catalyst to generate a hunger for people to have God on the throne and let the Sprit lead, even if it results in having to change programs to make room for repentance and revival. I believe we have not started to see yet what God can do. God does not need to be on the move, He was, is and will always be the same… we need to be on the move.

In John 16:33 Jesus says: “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (KJV)  It does not say we have overcome the world, but Jesus has overcome the world. Most of us seem still too much owners of our work and everything else, who serve God in our own strength. Instead we need to be wise stewards of everything we have. That starts with God working in us, so that He can work through is. It will be a clear testimony in our individual life, and also how we relate to our spouse, our children, our family, our home, our work, our vision, and every person God puts on our path (from beggar to king). It also will be evident in how we respond to change, to suffering, pain, people’s feelings, everything, even to patiently waiting in line. We need to be abandoned to God. We need to repent and be ready for revival. I desire abandonment to God. I repent and am ready for revival.
