This is a short introduction, instead of a long article about the potential of virtual worlds to counsel and support spiritual and mental wellness. As the Founding Director of a nonprofit organisation in Cape Town

, South Africa we have been exploring virtual technologies since 2007 and (we believe) we lead Africa’s access to these environments.

Since the beginning of our journey, I have been amazed (at personal level) what potential these platforms hold for Christians to connect and to meet. There are some church groups in these worlds, such as in Second Life, but we have not started to explore its real potential. This is a field I am very very interested in and I invite you to get in touch if you have the same sentiments.

Unfortunately I only discovered this event today when international guests started to arrive in Cape Town, but I truly hope the topic of virtual worlds will also be covered under media and technology themes!
