Following up on an earlier post on what it takes to respond in love to vocal atheist Christopher Hitchens’ cancer diagnosis, I came across an interesting excerpt from a debate at the Pew Forum on Religion between Christopher Hitchens and his younger brother Peter Hitchens, who is a Christian. In this clip, the brothers discuss God, suffering and morality in the context belief and unbelief in a way that is compelling and thought-provoking. In particular, I find Christopher’s response to his illness, those who pray for him and the notion that he would change his position on God due to his illness to be instructional, especially for those who have embraced the old addage, “there are no atheists in foxholes.” More on the debate here.
