The whole church connecting with, & understanding the whole person, so that we can take the whole gospel to the whole world.

Can I connect with and  understand someone who can help me to understand what I see as the possible absence of focus on the whole person (spirit, soul, mind, body, and social), as well as the lack of the processes of connection and understanding which presumably are often the underlying steps to taking the whole gospel to the whole world?

I have read the reflections of the theology working group, and also papers from… market ministry, partnership, children and youth, urban mission, unreached people groups, world faiths, poverty and wealth, truth and pluralism, integrity and humility, globalisation and prosperity gospel. What I was struck with was certainly the appropriate emphasis on evangelism and on macro populations (by culture, age ( there was one on children) and geography like Rewanda/urban). However, connection and understanding occurs much more safely in the small one-on-one/small group more than with the macro. Maybe I must be missing something!? Maybe I am too new on the block? Maybe it is because I am a part of the counselling in Mission category and not an evangelist? However, I am passionate about the whole church, the whole gospel, the whole world…. and the whole person.

I wonder as we meet at our tables of 6, if there will be enough safety for connection and understanding with each other in an undefended way, that we might take the gospel to each other… to the whole person? I wonder to what extent we will leave Cape Town with our own experience of moving towards a Christian Wholeness? I wonder how the likelihood of this can be increased? If we do come away with having been loved and understood as whole people, I wonder if we will be able to take the whole gospel to the whole world in a better way?
