Three Prayer Mistakes of Well-Meaning Believers

Believers may pray amiss “by habit” and 3 prayer requests, while sincere and well known, run counter to scriptural truth. These requests do not necessarily indicate spiritual immaturity and one such request (“Lord, be with us”) is typically heard in opening prayers of believers’ gatherings all over the world. The other two requests are usually personal and heart-felt (“Lord, change me” and “Lord, give me more love”) but, when examined, fall short of God’s promises to every believer. The focus of these inaccurately stated prayers are understood, but what could happen if this focus was stated in a more biblical manner? Let’s encourage one another accordingly.
