My God’s bigger than your god

I read with alarm this post about the American pastor who is burning the Koran on 9/11. I really have no words, other than it seems like bullying. As if we have to defend God. Or prove He’s better.

God is God. If we truly believe Him to be the All Powerful, All Knowing One, how can we possibly be threatened by different beliefs? Or demonize everyone who differs? Isn’t the battle against principalities, not people? And how can we help but LOVE the people God loves?

Here’s a compelling video about God’s love and our preconceived ideas of who, exactly, God loves. My seventeen-year-old-daughter alerted me of this. It’s convicting. I have a feeling our friend who wants to burn the Koran wouldn’t like it much.

Mind if I pray?

Lord, help us to have Your heart for this breaking world. To love people as You do. To engage rather than enrage. To listen rather than pontificate. To take the last seat rather than the “I am right” seat. Help us to be humble, teachable, loving, and disciplined. Help us to see You correctly as holy and big and our everything. Forgive us for small hearts. Enlarge them today.
