A Mormon/Evangelical Dialogue is the Bridge to Transformation

In 2007 I co-authored a book with a Mormon Scholar, Dr. Robert Millet of Brigham Young University.  Bob is a lifelong Mormon but a Mormon of a different stripe.  For over 10 years now, we have walked together as friends and become a model of a transformational relationship.  With all my heart, as a former Mormon who came to Jesus at 14, I believe Mormonism to be non-Christian in its theology and formation, however, after years of arguing and debating Mormons (with virtually no success of converting them to my evangelical faith) I have found a conversation, a dialogue not a debate, to be an incredibly powerful way to stay in relationship and all God the Holy Spirit to do the work of transformation over a period of time.  Check out our book if you are interested, “Bridging the Divide, A Mormon and an Evangelical in Conversation,” Monkfish, 2007.  God is doing some amazing things right now amoung the Mormon people, as evangelicals I think we should ask our Lord to open their hearts to His saving Grace and reconcile them to to His pure Gospel.  Let’s love and befriend Mormons, not contend or dispise.
