Dissonance or Consonance: Power, Pride and Leadership

I understand there are going to be 4,000 evangelical “leaders” at Capetown 2010.  How can one tell who the real leaders really are?  Different badge colors?  Ties instead of T-shirts? Oxfords in place of sandals?  I’m not talking about propriety here, lbut, “appearance.”

Will real leaders calrry MacBooks instead of yellow pads?  Will they be the ones signing autographs instead of asking?

What does a leader look like?  Is he pale or purple?  Is he she?  Is he tall and dignified and only speaks multi-syllabiclally and is expert at theologiic theories?

Or, is she a servant who smiles at the people who seem lost and may not be surrounded by admirers.  They haven’t published books or been asked to speak at the major pulpiits of the world.  They may just sit at meetings and listen, and reflect, and ponder the mysteries of life and marvel at God’s grace. And sit at His table.

Can one be a “silent” leader whose heart is known only to the Master?

What is the example of our Great Leader?  Are we following His lead?  Or have we surpassed him in our divine discourse and dissonant discussions.  Is our goal to come to a consenance?

I pray God opens our hearts and not just our spell check.
