There are many wonderful articles here about stewardship of God’s creation. So here’s an experiment to try something different.

Can we pool our experience to provide Biblical answers to basic questions many Christians are asking? Please add your favourite relevant passage. Start with the reference and add a short explanation (80 words max).

To set a context let’s consider climate change and the recent statement from the US National Academies of Science (http://bit.ly/usnas-climate): “Climate change is occurring, is caused largely by human activities, and poses significant risks for... human & natural systems”

So here’s a question:

‘Is the gospel relevant to climate change?’

关键词: stewardship, climate, Bible, prayer

Thanks for posting the question and an initial response.  When this question, or topic, come up I have encountered a lot people that are either in complete denial, or they speak to God’s sovereignty; which, for them, allows for poor stewardship because God is sovereign and loving enough to handle it.  Would their position not be similar to that of those engaged in "love feasts" that Paul preached against.  Even if God is sovereign and can handle our mistakes and sin, that doesn’t give permission to neglect our responsibility of stewardship.

Luke 4:18. God’s good news doesn’t change. The poor are most vulnerable to increasing climate impacts like floods, droughts and hunger – Jesus announces ‘good news to the poor’. Many of us live as slaves to money, pursuing it even at the expense of God’s creation or our peace of mind – Jesus announces freedom for captives. To all Jesus offers the hope of life in all its fullness.
