What Might an Oral-Teacher’s Lesson Outline Look Like?

In an non-oral/field independent style we outline like this:

I.

  A.

    1.

    2.

  B.

II.

etc. you get the idea.

There is very little repetition in this style of teaching.

Method 1: How about thinking of you outline like the face of a clock.

Your three main points will be at 12, 4, 8.  You begin by teaching
each point as you move around the clock and when you come to that
point again you repeat the main point, but teach a different aspect of
it.  You circle around the “clock outline” spiraling inward, till you
reach the end of your teaching time.

If I were to write it out non-oral style it would look like this

I

II

III

I.A

II.A

III.A

I.B

II.B

III.B

etc.

Method 2: Looping

Here you can think of a normal outline, but this time you loop back
before you cover new info.
That would look like this in a non-oral style outline

I.

  A.

  B.

  C.

  A.

  B.

  C.

II.

  A

  B

  C

  I.A

  I.B

  I.C.

  II.A

  II.B

  II.C

III.

etc.

What other outlining styles can you come up with that would help non-
oral learners translate their outline styles to a more repetitive oral
learner style?  Are we prepared to become oral-teachers?
