Indeed the children are SO crucial in God’s mission. The father-children nexus was mentioned, but what about the role of THE FAMILY in modelling and instructing? Bible Families, a recently formed fellowship of families committed to regular family prayers around God’s Word, has already encouraged one 10 year old Pakistani girl to start teaching younger children in her hostel from her Children’s Illustrated Bible. Her parents had introduced her to regular family Bible reading, while another family committed to supporting her in prayer.

Let us encourage more Christian families to adopt the Family Prayers habit and let church leaders practice this habit themselves, and then preach about it to others. (See my article Restoring The Bible’s Missional Role in The Family posted in the Scripture in Mission topic - type Bible Families in the Search box to access it.)

Let us show our children that we do not live by bread alone, but teach and model God’s Word from one generation to another in not just our churches, but in our families!

@ Paul_Burgess:

I agree, we cannot go at this alone.  We need to be able to model and learn together how to live like Christ and to grow closer to him.

@ Paul_Burgess:

There is such merit to the word habit.  If families, the church, and the community would become habitual about their commitment to study and pray together what a difference it would make in the lives of the young who watch every day.

@ wallison:

THERE IS A CONCEPT IN THE EDUCATION FEILD CALLED "THE COMMUNITY OF LEARNERS". WE MUST ADOPT THIS MODLE FROM THE SPRITUAL PRESEPCTIVE WHERE THE ENTIRE FAMILY IS MISTERED TO IN OUR LOCAL CHURCH. THE FAMILIES ARE JOINED TO APPRECIATE THE CULTURAL SOCIAL AS WELL AS THE SPIRUTAL UNQINESS WE ALL HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH.
