Many and wonderful things happened at CT2010. A great congress with lot of food for thought! Ispring and soul searching.

Also there were some gaps and I refer to the video about Latin America.

The content and information of the video about Latin America was a gross misrepresentation on the issues and realities of our continent. The information given  (and pictures shown) of the evangelical churches in Latin American was

another failure.  Never once the video gave even a hint of what is truly happening with the Body of Christ in our Continent. Moreover, the production of the video was very inferior when comparing with the rest of Regional videos presented at CT2010.  This was very disappointing for most of Latin American delegates. Many of them were bewildered after the video ended and started to voice heir discontent.  I was among them. When the second video ended, I approached a key leader from the Lausanne Movement and gently expressed my view against the presentation. (To honor truth, the following day that same leader approached me to express apologies for the video). When the evening session was over one could find many groups of Latin Americans discussing about the video and wondering how such a thing ever managed to pass the otherwise very meticulous program process and control of the Congress. This led to many informal and spontaneous meetings that were later carried on in hotels and corners during the days after. The ministry I served as Vice-President, COMIBAM International, wrote a letter of complaint to the organizers.  Some fellow-participants told me that other such letters were being written. A group of Latin American leaders later in the week meets with CT leadership to address this issue. Something that has puzzled many of us is, who did the video?. The author/s remained unknown to me. However, I suggest that come out of people with no information and no knowledge of the Latin America scene. And something else, a Latin leader pointed to me, during the credits - at the end of the video - “not a single Latin name appeared”.

Finally, something else to note is the small participation of Latin Americans representatives (speakers, Multiplex sessions, etc.) during the CT2010 program. I realize that this goes over the issue of the video but I think it needs to be also expressed.

Request for public apology for Latin America video||Hi,
So far, the congress has been excellent. However, the Latin America session was hugely disappointing, and has caused "no small discontent" in both the Latin American delegation and wider Pentecostal participants.
Those that I have spoken to have expressed huge discontent with the content of the Latin American video and feel publicly slighted. Talk to them to understand why, but as an illustration, maybe you can see that to suggest that the Pentecostal church is made up of the uneducated and to show a picture of a women before a catholic crucifix when referring to faith healing is insulting to them. Please just ask Latin leaders for their honest opinion.
I do not know who was responsible for the script of this video, nor the images chosen, nor the make-up of the rest of the session, but it failed to represent the vibrant Latin American church.
I think the best way you can address this would be to give a public apology for this. That would be fully in accord with our theme of reconciling us together in Christ, and keeping the unity of the Spirit through the body of peace. For there to be no public recognition of the mistake made will leave a foundation for resentments from the Latin Americans (and other Pentecostals who felt insulted by identification) towards the perceived North American organization of the congress.
I humbly submit this to you :-)

latin american participation||I was quite disappointed with the Latin American presentation. Having grown up in Venezuela in the 60’s and 70’s and 80’s and making frequent trips until the 90’s I felt that the portrayal was not fair.
BUT I was especially concerned about the portrayal of Pentecostals in the VIDEO. Having grown up as a TEAM MK my family lost the support of several churches in the U.S. because he chose to support Billy Graham’s efforts in Venezuela and Billy Graham had invited Pentecostals to participate as well.
Now in Lausanne 3 we have severely criticized the Latin American Pentecostals in the VIDEO.
Many people at this congress are from responsible Pentecostal churches from all over the world. I feel that a Public clarification, at the least is in order. BUT I would invite you to consider a public apology.
In know from having organized conferences for over 15 years that it is hard to get it all right. But this is a big boo boo and admitting it would go a long way.
Blessings on you and I will be praying that the Lord would give you wisdom.

What a timely and actute reminder!||Thank you for including the topic of megacities and global diaspora in the Lausanne Congress. This is a very urgent call at the right time and right place. May the Lord raise an army of His servants to work in this new reality of the 21st century.
