One of the most vital, yet overlooked, aspects of a church’s life and ministry is the discipline and restoration of fellow believers overtaken in sin. This article lists the biblical steps of the process based on Matthew 18:15-17 along with many other supportive verse references.  When a disciple of Christ takes steps to restore a fellow-believer overtaken in sin, this effort not only encourages a fallen believer to return to his/her first love of Jesus Christ, but it also gives others involved in the restoration process on-going opportunities to examine the depth of their love to the Lord.

I believe that Church Discipline and Restoration Process is an interesting topic because most of us have experienced the fact that members from any given Church have sinned.  And, not olny that, but, the other reality is that some Christians who belong to their own Church don’t even have the compassion towards the brother or sister in Christ who have offended God and need their spiritual support. What I have seen is that The average Christian only cares bout him/herself and not about those around them.  One important question that we should ask ourselves is what would Jesus do if He saw one of His children fall in sin? And, of course, we all know that Jesus would not think twice about helping those who are hurting.

@ Ernesto:

For the vast majority of churches in America, there is not a real emphasis on discipline inside of the church.  There is not a good model of accountability.  The main reason comes back to discipleship and having the right people in place to mentor.  The root of discipline is disciple....we have to walk people through it.
