We all know, this is always also a discussion about how we read and understand Schripture. When it comes to hermeneutics, we are seldom only rational, but very often emotional, because this issue is so important to us. The word of God as it is revealed in the whole bible is eternal and true and also written at a specific time to specific people (Galatians 4,4). To me it became evident that in the so important question of male and female roles in church and society this means that the distinction of man and woman is vital at all times and everywhere but accepting and outliving the specific role of a male or female may differ in times and cultures.

I´m very thankful for the blessing female pastors, teachers and board members habe been in my life, my church and my society.

I´m not "exporting" this understanding into each and every culture or ethnie today, but I find it encouraging, enriching and absolutely in accordance with scripture.

Palabras clave: gender, male, female, hermeneutics

Thanks for your insights.  I came to the Lord under a female pastor 46 years ago, and my current pastor is a female.  "God is no respecter of persons."

@ Joseph_Paul_Cadariu:

Two things radically changed my opinion of women in ministry as a young college student.  The first was working in my undergraduate program with so many women who were exceptional students, wonderful ministers, and outstanding preachers.  Having a chance to see the fruit that God produced through these ladies was outstanding.

Secondly, when my wife and I got married, I came to realize that she was every bit as capable and competent as myself.  I feel no reason why God cannot call her to minister the same as God has called me.

From where I sit in my local Church and my community (in my role as a Missions Mobiliser,) I see too many married couples not committed to seeing their primary responsibilities as their personal relationship with the Lord, then their marriage, then their family, then their ministry. For this reason, whatever leadership or serving role they are in they are in no position to truly disciple other couples, or to be an effective witness to singles or other non-Christian couples. I believe that if we set these right priorities in place then the question of men or women in leadership should take care of itself. James - NZ
