Now 60 years old, most of them as a believer, I’m surprised I’m not more like Christ and that the Church in general is not more like Christ. Nor are we yet particularly effective. At best, the U.S. is said to have only 9% of adults as ’evangelicals’ (Barna definition = holding a ’biblical worldview’.) If applied here in our city, that leaves 364 of the 400 people who die here each week. Hardly anything like Christ called us to. Something needs to change. And that something is us.. the Church.
So we’re trying to make a marked difference in the way we do ’Church’ and the Great Commission here... by connecting and communicating using new digital tools among ’driven Christians in the Racing Capital of the World’. Connecting diversely among urban/suburban, rich & poor, with various theological differences, albeit gathered tightly around the core doctrines and a high view of scripture.
And now, during #Orlando2011 we’re asking ourselves... "How will we leverage this opportunity together to accelerate the Great Commission?"
