Proxicharity is a diminutive of  Pensciencreatuproxicharity (<Common Lat. pensare,to weigh, [figurative, to reflect on], to think, scientis, who knows,” from scire, “to know, creatus, created, proximum, the neighbor, caritas, “charity, love”), [love of one’s penscient creature neighbor].

While Suicharity (<Lat. sui,of oneself”, genitive of , “self”, reflective pron.), caritas, charity, love”, from carus, “dear, expensive”) points out self love or love for oneself,  Proxicharity (<Lat. proximum, the fellow, the neighbor”, caritas, charity, love”) indicates as for it love of the neighbor.

The first neighbor of Adam, i.e., his fellow that was of the same human nature like him on the Earth was a part (rib) of himself. If you love yourself as Adam did, you’ll do nothing than loving always in the same way, even a part of yourself that was used by the Creator to make your fellow. The same Adam was going to experience a second projection of his love to otherness (alterity) added to his first projection of reflective love and make it complete in regard to love in society: “Then the Lord God made a woman [womb = uterus and man = male] from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh (…)”, Gen. 2:22-23. God did nothing else than leaving behind a part of the body of the first humane husband, Adam.  It’s to give him again the opportunity to experience loving his own body that despite the remoteness of a part remains the same body. Although the word husband is known from now on under a plural form, these ones must, as God wants it, follow that He’d established since the commencement: “In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no-one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and care for it, just as (…) Christ does the Church” Ep. 5:28-29.

Accordingly, this biblical verse related to prior love for oneself after the love for God, and secondary love for the other, our neighbor, ne is not opposed to what precedes. It’s true that love of the neighbor is deferred in relation to self love, but in term of quantity and/or quality, they must be the same thing and vice versa.
