@ broken_spirit:
God can best direct you as you move forward toward this goal. Study God’s Word, pray, share your faith with those that do not know Christ in your neighborhood, consider various missions that have the same heart as you do, and share your desire with your friends and those in the church you attend. God will use you as He sees fit.

Very insightful comments by zea1300. As a "vocational missionary" in a "faith mission" i.e. we depend upon God to provide through His people for our financial support, I thank you for pointing out that there indeed are many more missionaries. Sadly, those of us who God has blessed to be able to serve vocationally, all too often don’t adequately recognize, affirm and encourage our supporters. In fact, I believe it is impossible to adequately convey to them their importance. They indeed are missionaries--EQUALLY important in God’s Kingdom and in His work. The equality of each believer before God is one of the most beautiful truths of the Gospel. EACH CHRISTIAN has a unique role to play in Jesus’ Body. That said, there are well-documented, HUGE needs for people to devote themselves to full-time Christian vocational service. This does not make them "better", it is simply the role God is calling them to play in His Kingdom work. Please join me in praying that every believer will earnestly seek and joyfully respond to God’s leading. As Gracia Burnham, whose husband Martin was martyred in 2002 while serving with New Tribes in the Philippines, told us Tuesday night, WE are God’s plan. There is no "plan B".

I feel sad that this video says there are only 100,000 missionaries in the world. I think the term ’missionary’ is used far too narrowly, referring only to vocational missionaries. There are approx 2 billion Christians in the world, and that means there are 2 billion missionaries in the world. All are called to make disciples in their going. Many are not faithful to the call; many are not on the member care lists of sending agencies, but are faithful to the call, witnessing in their places of work, leisure and school, unrecognized and ’unsupported’. I feel sure that God has "7,000" that we don’t know of, living, praying, caring and interceding in places we’re not aware of, just like He did in Elijah’s day. (1 Kings 19:9-18)
