The Stare of suffering is very real, and exists in many places across the world. I believe it is most to be feared when it is in the eyes of seemingly defiant youth (some under the age of 12) who have no further reason to live. How then might we as Christians respond to those whose life-blood is gone as a result of disaster, natural or criminal? Might we try in our own little way to contetyualize Job 41-2 and be a real presence to those in search of God?
Let us ensure that we as church have not adopted the stare of suffering which would indicate that our faith has begun to wane.
