Last week (16 August 2010), I asked Dr. Atul Y. Aghamkar to post on "Partnership in Evangelizing Global Hindu Diaspora." Related, the wind of God is blowing across the Himalayas and beyond to the Himalayan people in diaspora.
Click on the link to read this report of their gathering in 2009, written by Charisma Lepcha and featured in the Lausanne World Pulse, August 2010.
For extensive study on Himalayan people and their scattering as a nation, readers may consult Dr. Cindy Perry’s work, Nepali Around the World (ISBN: N000005852).
The followers of Jesus Christ in this diaspora group are truly advancing the Kingdom!

The status of the book to my mind is not the operative thing here. What is foremost is the information and the ungoing reach that continues among the people. The update will come in time; if not by Cindy then some other person.
It is clear that much excitement and energy has been generated by the happenings in the Himalayan context. It is truly wonderful to read of the unfolding vision and focus that the people have embraced. I feel blessed to hear of the desire to move beyond the Himalayan borders and see the mission of God as “Asian people, missionary people.”
What I am very keen to find out is some of the strategies employed so far to carry the Gospel of Christ to the unreached Himalayan. it would also be good to know how they have responded to the Gospel and the lessons learned from the various approaches used in the process.
May the Spirit of Christ continue to grant wisdom and insight, strength and boldness, and the covering of Love as you serve in this season.

Agreed. Hope someone takes up the challenge. I tried to upload a pdf of a brochure about a new Nepali organisation that is just estd - migrant returnees helping other returnees & networking. It failed.

True. Cindy’s book needs to be revised but I still believe her book is a classic. Perhaps a Nepali scholar will take the challenge to publish. We cannot ignore the Nepali Diaspora and their contribution to evangelism and church planting. This kind of information (Cindy’s work and perhaps a new book ) must be shared for the encouragement of the Nepalis workers to inspire regional if not a global partnership.

Sadly Cindy’s book is now very outdated. It was written at the beginning of the Nepali diaspora explosion. But she is still very much involved and continually updating her own info. Anyone really interested should get in touch with her directly.
