Abstract: Evangelical ‘mega-churches’ are awakening to the importance of tackling poverty and social issues even as they continue their focus on evangelism and church planting. As a result, they are moving into carrying out their own development efforts globally, emphasizing direct relationships with churches in the developing world. This is changing their engagement with the ‘professional’ evangelical development organizations, leading the mega-churches to search and experiment with development methods, approaches, and choice of issues, and bringing them up against questions and challenges inherent…

As a young Christian, just starting out in evangelistic witnessing I memorized the appropriate Scriptures, studied the denominational edicts, knew the team mantra and put in the required hours to be certified as a “denominationally certified Christian witness”. I was ready to change the world for Christ! I had visions of bringing family members, coworkers, store clerks, neighbors and future children to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. I was what you called sold out! The one thing I remember came from my father in Christ he said, “Don’t bruise the fruit in your enthusiasm”. …

The Gospel has been preached and churches have been planted in the Punjab (North India) yet we have thousands of Punjabi people in Europe( and other Diaspora places) that live together in clusters - like Northern Italy at least 60 000- that qualify as UUPG in an Italian and European context. On February 7th, 2012, 30 mission mobilizer in the Dallas-Ft Worth Metroplex gathered together for the purpose of launching the DFW Diaspora Alliance. The DFW Diaspora Alliance is a strategic response to our changing world in DFW as the world come to Texas.

DFW is a growing and unique global city due to a few key factors:

First, DFW is known for the strength of our local churches with a number of the largest mega-churches in the U.S. providing capacity

Second, DFW…

Today, with the invention of the Computer and the development of the Computer sciences, we, Postmodern Peccatologists, suggest that this word may be translated into "program", as such a Computer program by Bible translating Societies for peccatological reasons. This can enlight our understanding of the very verse and the object that it talks about. My upcoming articles…

But the concept is not, nor is the practice. But we can witness a renewed understanding of Biblical concepts of work and business. I have worked across the globe with these issues for about 17 years. The momentum is growing, especially in the non-Western world.

Please read the following few paragraphs which give helpful insights regarding work, wealth creation and serving others. It is from a speech held in 1988, i.e. 24 years ago. Some may be surprised when they realize that these are words from the British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.…

One network, in a country that I will not mention, stuck out to me as an outstanding example. They have started almost a thousand new communities, many of them multiplying into the second and third generation. And like many new movements in the non-Western world, a Sunday worship service as an evangelistic entry point for potential members, has not been part of their ministry portfolio. Which was the subject of my somewhat provocative post a few days ago,…

How does one minister to people you barley know, between 8 am and 5 pm, so to speak? People you hardly talk to except at the water cooler and lunch, if that? Isn’t it frustrating to look around your workplace? Do most co-workers seem unapproachable and uninterested in things of God? Are they really? How do you know? Is there a way to really read people that well? Do you just see people at work doing their…

Regional Snap Shots [The following are shared because I find they serve as missiological case studies from which can be drawn insights which may prove relevant to many other diaspora contexts.]

It happens as we deliberately respond to the work of the Holy Spirit upon our lives. We are to actively grow by pursuing God through the means of grace he has provided. Prayer, the Word and the obedience of faith are essential means to spiritual growth. All of God’s giants practiced spiritual disciplines in their passion to know and show the glory of Jesus Christ. Below is my attempt to set spiritual goals for the coming year and a strategy to help me reach them. I divided up my…

It’s a season where love wins, peace reigns, and a king is celebrated with each breath. It’s the party of the year. Entering the story of advent means entering this season with an overwhelming passion to worship Jesus to the fullest.

A trillion dollar of aid has not raised the continent out of poverty. A corrupt leader like Mugabe has changed a country from a breadbasket of a region to a basket case. Rwanda experienced a horrific genocide in 1994 where up to one million people were killed in about 100 days. The negative examples above do not fully or fairly reflect Africa as a whole. Christians need to be Biblically prepared to address and minister to everyone as the issues of life bloom before us and as conflict explodes at our feet. If we are aware that our work environment is our mission field, then we should be fully equipped mentally, physically and spiritually to deal with not only our own problems but be able to minister to our co-workers as they deal with theirs. How then should we handle the problems we face so not to…
