How can we connect theological training with ’rubber-meets-the-road’ ministry? This seems to be the question that, if it is well answered, will lead us to a place of greater authenticity and creditbility and life-transforming disciple-making. So glad I had an opportunity to hear this from ’the horse’s mouth’, so to speak. It reminds me of my time in West Africa, and how difficult it was to get Bible School graduates to pastor village churches. In all fairness to them, it was really a very difficult and sometimes thankless task. However, I wonder to what extent theological education is really about upward social mobility?
The suggested solution - go back to the bible, and ask God to hold our hands and lead us - is at least a very good starting point!
