Ron, why is it necessary to be pro-literacy? You mentioned yourself that you were astounded by people’s ability to retain knowledge.
If these people become literate creatures, their oral skills will begin to erode and disappear. (See Walter J Ong’s "Orality and Literacy", 1982.)
Just a little question. I think the oral strategies are working so well, that we don’t need to feel like we should go back to the literacy safety net of our western world views.
