On our facebook and twitter pages we post a lot of quotes about missions and evangelism. Here is a recent quote we posted and the response:
"People who don’t believe in missions have not read the New Testament. Right from the beginning Jesus said the field is the world. The early church took Him at His word and went East, West, North and South." — J. Howard Edington (via Gospel For Asia)
Natalia Martins I totally agree!
Davo Roberts As Stott once said, where ever we are as Christians is a mission field - be that in the two-thirds world, our home, our university, our supermarket or our workplace...
Marcos Antonio Ferreira Everywhere, all the time, no rest. Missions needs to be our heart beat!
Pat Burman What about missions in the Old Testament - right from Abraham being told to leave home for unknown places - right through where God’sfame name is proclaimed through the nations. Wow!
What is your response to this quote?

Though it is certainly true that there is a clear thrust toward mission throughout the New Testament, the Christian foundation for mission is much older than that. Insofar as mission has to do with making God known, participating in God’s redemption of the world, and being an instrument of God’s blessing, it seems that those who don’t believe in missions have also missed out on much of the Old Testament as well! The message of mission in the Old Testament is certainly not as clearly or directly stated as it is in the New Testament, but it is very much there.

As people much younger than me would say: "Spot on!" That is what they say, isn’t it?
I’m amazed how many Christians say, "Missions is not for everyone." Because I love my wife so dearly, and because she is such an amazing person, I want to tell everyone about her." How much more...
I think that’s the basic issue.
