My recent memoir, Thin Places, released in February of this year. It’s been a difficult path to get to this place, where I share what Jesus has done in the aftermath of a childhood that included neglect, sexual abuse, and death. I still can’t believe Jesus rescued me at fifteen. And since then, the healing has been beautifully painful.

I took a risk writing this book, but I’m thankful it’s now out there. I wrote it so that other abuse victims would no longer feel alone.

In the grand scheme of the world, I wonder how my little experience can help people who have suffered horrendous abuse. I’m thinking of the sex-trafficked kids, and forced prostitution. Perhaps my book can be a comfort, showing that Jesus can heal and make whole, even when it seems impossible.

I’ve asked my publisher if we can donate these books to South African pastors and others I meet in Cape Town. If anyone knows a channel I can distribute these books (free), please let me know. I would love this book to help leaders understand the implications of abuse and see a way through it for their congregants.
